The Associate of Science with an emphasis in Elementary and or Secondary Education curriculum at NCCC provides the first two years of general education courses for most bachelor degree programs in elementary or secondary education. Students entering a teacher education program at a four-year institution should have a 2.75 GPA in a minimum of 50 college credit hours. The student must apply for admittance to most teacher education programs after completing the first two years of college. The student will need to demonstrate proficiencies in reading, English, and mathematics based on the ACCUPLACER assessment test, ACT or SAT scores, or by taking the recommended/ required classes. Some of the courses in this curriculum have specific prerequisites.
General Education (GE) Courses
In order to graduate with a college degree, all students are required to take certain general education courses. These include English composition, speech, wellness, science, art and humanities, mathematics, computer systems, and social and behavioral science.
