REQUIREMENTS
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of:
- Financial need
- Academic ability
- Participation in activities
- Athletic skill
- Various other criteria
To be considered for a scholarship, students must:
- Complete an Admission form
- Be seeking a degree at NCCC
- Complete the Scholarship Application form
- Provide a copy of official transcripts or GED scores
Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis and are based on the availability of funds. Priority will be given to scholarship applications received by May 1.
Scholarships are awarded on an academic year basis for the fall and spring semesters only, unless otherwise noted on
the scholarship letter. Exceptions to this policy include Senior Citizen, Staff, and Dependent scholarships, which are available for the summer session as well.
It is the student’s responsibility to confirm and comply with the application procedure. A student may apply for more than one scholarship, but may only accept one scholarship per academic year, unless otherwise noted. Students must have attempted less than 96 prior college credit hours and have a minimum college career GPA of 2.0 to be eligible for NCCC Academic, Activity, Service, Business Program, and Industrial Engineering Technology scholarships.
APPEAL PROCESS
Applicants wishing to appeal institutional scholarship criteria should submit their written appeal to the Director of Financial Aid. Written appeals should include a letter of recommendation by the respective scholarship sponsor. The Scholarship Appeal Procedure in its entirety is outlined in the Student Handbook.
CAP POLICY
Courses added by scholarship students through the 10 day of each semester will be covered by scholarship according
to the stated criteria for each particular scholarship.

Senior Citizen, Staff, and Dependent scholarships are exempt from this rule.
SCHOLARSHIPS
The Office of Student Financial Aid awards academic scholarships (Board of Trustees, President’s, and Educational Opportunity) to Neosho County residents. The Foundation awards academic scholarships to Kansas residents living outside Neosho County as well as out-of-state students. Academic scholarships are based on the GPA of the most recent High School transcript, GED diploma scores, or career college GPA. However, college GPA will only be considered if a student has attempted 12 or more college hours since graduating from high school or receiving the GED. Academic scholarships are available only to high school graduates or GED recipients.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES SCHOLARSHIP
- Scholarship includes $2,100 per semester, total of $4,200 for the academic year
- Must be a Neosho County resident
- High school GPA (as of the end of the first semester of senior year or final HS GPA) of 4.0 or
- College career GPA of 4.0
- Recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours per semester as of the 11th day of the semester
- FOR RENEWAL: Must maintain 3.5 college career GPA and successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours per semester
PRESIDENT’S SCHOLARSHIP
- Scholarship includes $1,600 per semester, total of $3,200 for the academic year
- Must be a Neosho County resident
- High school GPA (as of the end of the first semester of senior year or final HS GPA) of 3.0 to 3.9 or
- College career GPA of 3.0 to 3.9 or
- GED Test Score of 165 to 200
- Recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours per semester as of the 11th day of the semester
- FOR RENEWAL: Must maintain a 2.5 college career GPA and successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours per semester
PANTHER ELITE SCHOLARSHIP
- Scholarship includes a maximum of $600 per semester for tuition, fees, residence hall charges and/or other charges not covered by other scholarships
- Must be a receiving base/host scholarships through NCCC or the NCCC Foundation
- High school GPA (as of the end of the first semester of senior year or final HS GPA) of 3.5 or higher or
- College career GPA of 3.5 or
- GED Test Score of 610 or higher
- Recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours per semester as of the 11th day of the semester
- FOR RENEWAL: Must maintain a 3.5 college career GPA and remain eligible for base/host scholarship
EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP
- Scholarship provides 50 percent of tuition (up to 8 credit hours per semester)
- Must be a Neosho County resident
- Must be a high school graduate or GED recipient
- Must be less than 62 years of age (students 62 years of age and older are eligible for the Senior Citizen Scholarship)
- Must be degree or certificate seeking at NCCC
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours as of the 11th day of the semester
- FOR RENEWAL: Must maintain a minimum college career GPA of 2.0 and successfully complete a minimum of 3 credit hours per semester
SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP
- Scholarship includes $1,600 per semester, total of $3,200 for the academic year
- Must submit a FAFSA
- Must be a Kansas resident
- Must have unmet financial need or a 3.0 GPA (high school GPA as of the end of the first semester of senior year or final high school GPA or college career GPA)
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours per semester as of the 11th day of the semester
- FOR RENEWAL: Must maintain a 2.0 college career GPA, successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours per semester, and complete 60 hours of service (as assigned by the Financial Aid Director) during each semester for which the scholarship is awarded.

- FOR RENEWAL: Must maintain a 2.0 college career GPA and successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours per semester
- Honors activity recipients must have a 3.5 GPA

BUSINESS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP
- Scholarship includes $1,000 per semester, total of $2,000 for the academic year
- Must be a Neosho County resident
- Must have recommendation from NCCC Business instructors
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours as of the 11 day of the semester, 9 credit hours must be business courses
- FOR RENEWAL: Must maintain a 2.0 college career GPA and successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours per semester
APPLIED TECHNOLOGIES SCHOLARSHIP
- Scholarship includes $1,000 per semester, total of $2,000 for the academic year
- Available for students majoring in Maintenance Technology, Aircraft Sheet Metal Assembly, Plumbing, Construction Technology, Welding Technology, HVAC, Automotive Technology, and Electrical Technology
- Must be a Neosho County resident
- Recommendation from NCCC Technology instructors
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours as of the 11th day of the semester
- Must be enrolled in Applied Technology courses, as noted in the major list above
- FOR RENEWAL: Must maintain a 2.0 college career GPA and successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours per semester
NJCAA ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP
- Scholarship amounts vary (coaches of each respective sport award Letter of Intent Athletic Scholarships)
- Available to athletes in Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country/Track, Soccer, Softball, Wrestling, and Volleyball
- Must meet and abide by all NJCAA regulations, including GPA requirements
- Must abide by any and all team rules
- Some scholarships do not cover room and board
STAFF/DEPENDENT SCHOLARSHIP
- Scholarship includes tuition and books
- Must be spouse or dependent of an NCCC full-time or permanent part-time employee or is employeed at NCCC on the first day and last day of class
- Must complete the Staff or Dependent Scholarship form (available from the Office of Student Financial Aid)
- Student must reimburse NCCC for each credit hour that they don’t receive a grade of A, B, C, or P

HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
- Scholarship includes up to 6 hours of tuition per semester
- Available to eligible high school students residing in Neosho County
- Must be an 11 or 12 grade student or a gifted underclassman with an IEP indicating readiness for college curriculum
- Must be authorized by high school principal to enroll at NCCC
- Must be accepted for enrollment at NCCC
- Must have a high school GPA of 3.6 as of the end of the previous academic year
Awarded on an academic year basis
SENIOR CITIZEN SCHOLARSHIP
- Scholarship includes full tuition and fees (excluding class fees)
- Must be a Neosho County resident age 62 or older
- Available for fall, spring, and summer terms
- Class fees, books, and additional fees are the student’s responsibility
NCCC FOUNDATION ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
- Scholarship award amounts vary based on availability of funds
- Must have a minimum high school or college career GPA of 2.5
- Award amount will vary depending upon donor scholarship requirements
- FOR RENEWAL: College career GPA requirement is specified and varies by donor but most recipients must maintain a minimum college career GPA of 2.5, and successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours per semester (unless otherwise designated by donor)
NCCC FOUNDATION NURSING SCHOLARSHIP
- Scholarship award amounts vary based on availability of funds
- Must be a Kansas resident accepted into the Nursing program
- Awards are based on the recommendation of the Director of Nursing
- Must provide letters of recommendation from two general education and/or nursing faculty
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of seven NCCC Nursing hours each semester or summer session
- Must provide a letter stating financial need
- FOR RENEWAL: Must receive a grade of “C” or better in all courses required in the Nursing Program
