Theatre at NCCC

The NCCC Theatre Department prides itself on bringing exciting theatrical works to Southeast Kansas. Theatre students at NCCC will be offered a wide variety of opportunities in and out of the classroom. Students who choose to continue to study theatre after attending NCCC will leave with a well-rounded set of skills. Smaller class sizes ensure one-on-one attention from instructors. Students are encouraged to experience all aspects of theatre: acting, directing, designing, and stage managing; a rare opportunity for freshman and sophomores.

Students who study acting at NCCC will learn both American Method and Viewpoints acting techniques, as well as professional level Improvisation training modeled after the famous Second City out of Chicago.  NCCC focuses on newer, cutting edge works that many colleges don’t perform, and tailors their season to the students’ needs.  We also study mask work, acting in period styles, classical acting, and work closely with the Music Department for Musicals and other performances.

Design/Technical Theatre

NCCC provides world-class design and technical training from an Instructor that has worked for Tony Award winning organizations and creators.  Get access to the industry’s top professionals and gain working knowledge that leads to professional internships!

Degrees offered at NCCC are an Associate in Arts and an Associate in Sciences. Student can major in theatre with an emphasis in either technical theatre or performance. Classes taken at Neosho County Community College will transfer seamlessly to any four year university.

Panther Players

Panther Players is a group of students are interested in participating in theatre or who simply enjoy attending “live” theatre. The club helps support Neosho County Community College’s theatre department and actively engages in volunteer work for the campus community and the communities of Neosho County. The club often provides social gatherings and travel opportunities to view productions at other colleges/universities as well as professional theatres throughout the region. The group meets at least once a month to discuss club business and upcoming events. We also put on a yearly Haunted House with Student Senate that is frightfully fun!

The Department of Theatre has excellent scholarships to offer students who are interested in theatre.  No prior theatre experience is necessary, and you don’t have to major in theatre to be on scholarship.  No auditions required.  For more information, contact Tricia Stogsdill, Director of Theatre at
