Wireless Access Policy - Rev 1 (Pending Approval) Accessing the “internet” is now a fundamental requirement for nearly all College related activities. The purpose of this policy is to identify the process for granting access to the NCCC wireless local area network. NCCC WLAN Requirements
Implementing Wireless Service The college currently offers WLAN access to any user that meets the requirements above. Public access is available campus wide. There is no current restriction on who may access the NCCC WLAN. Guests may connect to the WLAN for internet access only. College personnel who need access to college resources located on the LAN must request VPN access. The Director of Technology Services, following appropriate procedures for approval, will determine whether an individual is eligible for VPN access. The Technology Services Help Desk should be contacted for issues related to the wireless service. CONSEQUENCES: Failure to abide by the requirements of this procedure may result in termination of the user’s WLAN privileges. Inappropriate user behavior on the NCCC Network (as defined in the NCCC fair use policy) may also be subject to sanctions, including the loss of network access privileges, and legal action. Some violations may constitute criminal offenses under local, state, and federal laws. The College will carry out its responsibility to report such violations to the appropriate authorities. |
