Services and Policies
Material Loans:
To check out materials, patrons must have a Library card, which is
available at the Library circulation desk. 5 items may be checked
out at time.
Books: Check-out is for 21 days, with a one time renewal unless another library patron has reserved the material.
Interlibrary Loan Materials: Check-out is for 21 days, with no renewal,
$1.00/day overdue fine.
Magazines/Journals: With the exception of the
current issue, magazines and journals can be checked out for 7 days, with
a one-time renewal and $1.00 per
day overdue fine.
Newspapers, videos and reference materials are not
checked out.
Cell Phones
Cell phones must be put on a silent mode when coming into the
Library and all calls answered outside of the Library. The Library
lobby can be used for phone calls.
Computer Usage: All Library computers have Internet access as well as Microsoft
Office available for use by students and community members. Students
must have an ID and sign in for computer use and computers are shut down
15 minutes before closing. Laptops
with wireless Internet access are available for check-out within the
Library with a student ID.

Internet Use and Minors: Students under age 18 must take an
Internet Permission
form for Minors home. A parent or legal guardian must fill it out, sign it,
have the student sign it, and return it to the library. Students under
18 will not be able to access the Internet until there is a signed form on file in
the library.

Reserves: Patrons with a library number may reserve items directly on the
Library online catalog. A last name and a current library card number are
required to do this. Any reserved items must be picked up at the library within
two days upon notification that the material is in, or the reserve will be taken

Patron Status Online: Patrons may view the materials they have checked out,
materials they have put on reserve, and any outstanding fines by clicking on the
"patron status" button in the Library Catalog. The patron's last name and
library number must be entered in order to access this information.

Interlibrary Loan: If Chapman Library does not own the material you are looking
for, it can be borrowed from other libraries throughout the state of Kansas via
the Kansas Interlibrary loan system. Please ask staff about this service.

Lost or Damaged Materials: The patron is responsible for
lost or damaged items. The price of a replacement for the book or
magazine, plus $10.00 processing fee for each item will be charged to
the patron. A hold will be placed on the patron's record, and
transcripts will not be issued or the patron allowed to enroll until the
items are paid for.
