Tips for Finding Poetry Information at Chapman Library In the
Spectrum Library Catalog
a) Keyword Search: Type in the type of poetry you are looking for:
(i.e. “American Poetry,” “English Poetry,” “British Poetry,” etc.)
b) Author Search: To find books by a certain author, click on the author search
button and
type in the author’s name, LAST name first. (i.e. Plath, Sylvia).
c) To find information ABOUT an author, such as biographical work or a criticism
about his/her works, use a KEYWORD SEARCH.
Put in the author’s name FIRST name first (i.e. Sylvia Plath or Elizabeth
Barrett Browning).
d) The areas of the library collection where you will find information about
poets and poetry are below.
This information is helpful if you want to browse the shelves in order to see
what you can find about a topic or poet.
Understand that if you are looking for a particular poem, you may have to look
in the index of a collected works book.
Of course, it is then helpful if you know where the poet is from or the kind of
poetry he or she has written.
