Faculty Resources

MULTIMEDIA RESOURCES FOR CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION:

1)  A listing of Chapman Library's collection of videos and DVDs can be viewed through the
Chapman Library Video List, or through the Library's online catalog.  These films may be checked out for two weeks.  To find multimedia materials through the Online Library Catalog, type in a keyword search with the subject you are interested in.   Then organize the list by call number.  The films in Chapman Library will be listed at the end of the list, and will have "TV" before the call number.

2)  American History on Video  is a streaming video database which can be used on campus without password access.  There are many options with this database, including organizing and customizing film clips, and creating folders for future access.  Please call the Library staff for information on how to access the videos off-campus.

3)  A VHS/DVD collection is also available for loan through SEKALC, a consortium of community college libraries.  This collection is housed off-campus, but usually only takes two days to arrive here.  Check-out time for these films is 3 weeks.  To see what titles are in this collection, go to:

SEKALC Videos by Title (alphabetical)

SEKALC Videos by Subject (list courtesy of CowleyCC)

To find these videos in the Online Library Catalog, type in a subject search and organize the list by call number.  Videos in the Southeast Kansas Librarians' Council collection will have "SEK" before the call number.

All videos are reserved by call Joan Gill at X296, or e-mailing her at jgill@neosho.edu .

REQUESTING A PURCHASE FOR THE LIBRARY COLLECTION.  Fill out the
Library Purchase Request form.

FACULTY RESERVES.  Faculty can place materials on reserve for students to use in the library. Reserve materials do not leave the library and have a checkout period of two hours. Overdue reserve items have a fine of $1.00 per item per hour. Please fill out the
Reserve Form and send it to Joan Gill, who will set up the Reserve materials for you. The form is a "read-only" file, so you must either print it out and write/type on it, or you can use the "save as" feature in Word and then type directly on it and print it out.

GROUP STUDY HALLS.  The Library is not used for required group study halls, unless there is no available classroom space elsewhere on campus.  Using the Library for this purpose must be arranged beforehand with the Library Director at phone X 246, and a qualified supervisor provided to stay with the group during the entire study hall.

CLASSES IN THE LIBRARY.  If you plan on bringing your class to the Library for research, you will need to schedule this with Library staff the day before you plan to bring your class to the Library.  Just e-mail the library to schedule a class at library@neosho.edu or call us at x244.  You can also view the library schedule on Outlook by searching for the calendar of "library" to see if the Library is available for classes during the time period you would like to schedule.

Students can access all of the library's electronic resources from any classroom on campus that has computers.   If you are planning a class session to use the Library's electronic resources and do not need to physically be in the Library, then contact Terri Dale at x 211 to reserve a classroom on campus with computers.

The Library has 17 computers and 6 laptops, so if you need more than that, contact Terri Dale at x211 to reserve another classroom with computers.

DATABASE TRIALS.   If you have a database that you would like for the Library to investigate or purchase, please let us know, and we can arrange a trial of the database.  You will find current database trials on our Database Trial webpage.
