KSSEF Meeting October 12, 2007 Those in attendance were Sarah Evan, Friends University; Nora Strasser, Friends University, Steve Yuza, Neosho Community College; Heather Click, State Dept. of Ed; Pam Collinge, Eureka Regional Fair; Kim Ring, Eureka Regional Fair. A tentative date was set for the state science fair for April 11 and 12, 2008. The International Science and Engineering Fair is in early May 2008 in Atlanta, GA. Heather presented the science fair information she assembled. It was noted that we still have no contact from the Wamego Regional Science Fair and there is a regional science competition in Garden City that we need to try to make contact with. Steve volunteered to take care of the State Science Fair website. NCCC will be hosting the site. Mission statements, and all other documents will be sent to him to post on the website. An application from the ISEF will need to be secured and completed to affiliate our state fair with them. The new applications are not available on line as of yet but will be taken care of ASAP. PR for the state fair will come from the regional fairs. The state fair will have two divisions. Division I will include students in grades 9-12. Division II will include students in grades 4 – 8. Only students in Division I are eligible to attend the ISEF as per their rules. Nora and Sarah will generate a list of potential funding sources and judges and send to Kim and Pam. If anyone else has ideas please send those as well. We will plan to have an orientation session for the judges. It was also suggested that we provide food and drinks for the judges. It was decided that we wouldn’t schedule another meeting unless we find the necessity. Meeting was adjourned. Submitted by, |
