CBC = College-Bound Class
GEAR UP = Gaining Early Awareness & Readiness for Undergraduate Programs
Currently in our second year, CBC GEAR UP serves 7th and 8th graders in
three school districts: Altoona-Midway, Fort Scott, and Marmaton Valley in
Moran. Services will continue for these particular students through their high
school graduation and entry into post-secondary education.
College-Bound Class GEAR UP is a 100% federally funded project with an annual
budget of $130,114 . The major goal of this program is to significantly increase
the number of students who are prepared to enter and succeed in post secondary
education. Scholarship opportunities will be available.
Typical services provided to students and parents by CBC GEAR UP with the
support of the host schools are: academic support, tutoring/mentoring, workshops
for both students and parents, academic tours, cultural awareness, and financial
aid training.
Our partners are USDs 387, 256, and 234 as well as Neosho County Youth
Coalition, Bourbon County Coalition, Crossfield Consulting and Neosho County
