NCCC Institutional Scholarships
Scholarship
Information
Neosho County Community College offers
a variety of institutional and Foundation scholarships for full-time
and part-time students.
Scholarships are awarded on the
basis of
financial need; academic ability; participation in
activities; athletic skill; and various other criteria.
To be considered for a
scholarship, students must: complete an Admissions form, be
seeking a degree at NCCC, and complete the Scholarship Application
form.
In addition to these requirements,
to qualify for a service scholarship students must complete
the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students
applying for an academic scholarship must provide a copy of their
high school transcript or GED scores and copies of all prior college
transcripts.
Scholarships are awarded
on a first come, first served basis and are based on the
availability of funds. Priority will be given to scholarship
applications received by May 1.
Scholarships are awarded
on an academic year basis for the fall and spring semesters only,
unless otherwise noted in the scholarship letter. Exceptions
to this policy include Senior Citizen and Staff and Dependent
scholarships, which are available for the summer session as well.
It is the student’s
responsibility to confirm and comply with the application procedure.
A student may apply
for more than one scholarship, but may only accept one
scholarship per academic year, unless otherwise noted.
Students must have attempted less than 64 prior college credit hours
and have a minimum college career GPA of 2.0 to be eligible for NCCC
Academic, Activity, Service, Business Program, and Industrial
Engineering Technology
Scholarships.
Scholarship Cap Policy:
Courses added by scholarship students through the 10th
day of each semester will be covered by scholarship up to the credit
hour limit and other conditions as stated in the scholarship
criteria for each particular scholarship.
Courses added after the 10th day of the semester
will not
be covered by scholarship funds.
Book rental will also not be available after the 10th day
of each semester. Students will be responsible for purchasing books
for courses added after the 10th Day. Senior Citizen,
Staff, and Dependent scholarships are exempt from this rule.

Scholarship Appeal Procedure
Applicants wishing to appeal institutional scholarship criteria
should submit their written appeal to the Director of Financial Aid.
Written appeals should include a letter of recommendation by the
respective scholarship sponsor. The Scholarship Appeal
Procedure in its entirety is outlined in the Student Handbook.

Academic Scholarships
The Financial Aid Office awards academic scholarships to Neosho
County residents. The Foundation awards academic scholarships to
Kansas residents living outside Neosho County, as well as
out-of-state students. Academic scholarships are based on the GPA of
the most recent High School transcript, GED diploma scores, or
career college GPA. However, college GPA will only be
considered if a student has attempted 12 or more college hours since
graduating from high school or receiving the GED. Academic
scholarships are available only to high school graduates or GED
recipients.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarship includes full-tuition up to 21 hours per
semester and participation in the consumable book loan program.
Eligibility Requirements: High school GPA (as of the end of the 1st
semester of the senior year or final HS GPA) of 4.0 or College Career
GPA of 4.0. |
Award Details:
Recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours a semester as
of the 11th day of the semester. Recipient must successfully complete a
minimum of 12 credit hours a semester for renewal. Recipient must
maintain a minimum College Career GPA of 3.0 for renewal. |
PRESIDENT’S SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarship includes
full-tuition up to 17 credit hours per semester and participation in the
non-consumable book loan program.

Eligibility Requirements: High School GPA (as of the end of the
1st semester of the senior year or final GPA) of 3.0 to 3.9, or College
Career GPA of 3.0 to 3.9, or a GED Test score of 580 to 800.

Award Details:
Recipient must be enrolled in a minimum
of 12 credit hours a semester as of the 11th day of the semester.
Recipient must successfully complete a minimum of 12 credit hours a
semester for renewal. Recipient must maintain a minimum College Career
GPA of 2.5 for renewal. |

PANTHER ELITE SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarship includes a maximum of $500 per semester for
tuition, fees, residence hall charges and/or other charges, not covered by other
scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements: Recipient must be
receiving base/host scholarship through NCCC or the NCCC Foundation.
High School GPA (as of the end of the 1st semester of the senior year or
final GPA) of 3.5 or higher, or a College Career GPA of 3.5 or higher,
or a GED Test score of 610 or higher.

Award Details:
Recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours a
semester as of the 11th day of the semester. Recipient must retain
eligibility for base/host scholarship. Recipient must maintain a minimum
College Career GPA of 3.5 for renewal. |
EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIPS
Award is 50% of tuition at a minimum enrollment of 6 credit hours and a maximum
enrollment of 16 credit hours per semester.
Eligibility Requirements: Student must enroll in at least 6
credit hours per semester. Must be a high school graduate or GED
recipient.
Must be less than 62 years of age (students 62 years of age and older
are eligible for the Senior Citizen Scholarship).
Student must be degree or certificate seeking at NCCC.
Award Details:
Recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours as of the 11th
day of the semester.
Recipient must successfully complete a minimum of 3 credit hours a
semester for renewal. Recipient must maintain a minimum College Career
GPA of 2.0 for renewal. |

NCCC FOUNDATION ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Unless otherwise designated by donor, the following restrictions apply to all
NCCC Foundation Scholarships.
Eligibility Requirements:
Minimum high school or College Career GPA of 3.0.
Priority given to Kansas residents, but out-of-state students will be considered
if funds allow.
Award amounts vary from $250 to $2000 annually.
Award Details:
Recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours (unless otherwise
specified by the donor) as of the 11th day of the semester.
Recipient must successfully complete a minimum of 12 credit hours a semester for
renewal.
Recipient must maintain a minimum College Career GPA of 3.0 (or higher if
specified by specific scholarships) for renewal.

One of the many values Neosho County Community College attempts to instill in
students is service. To foster and inculcate the value of service, NCCC offers
Service Scholarships to qualified Kansas students. These activities are designed
to promote citizenship and servant leadership, complement academic goals, and
provide service to the NCCC community. The Service Scholarships are administered
by the Director of Financial Aid and are need-based scholarships. Students
wishing to apply for these scholarships must complete the Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Eligibility for Service Scholarships will be
determined by FAFSA results or other documentation as deemed necessary by the
Director of Financial Aid
Requirements:
Recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours as of the 11th day of
the semester.
Recipient must successfully complete a minimum of 12 credit hours a semester for
renewal. Recipient must maintain a College Career GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Recipient must complete 60 hours of service (as assigned by the Director of
Financial Aid) during each semester for which the scholarship is awarded.

Scholarships available for students majoring in : Accounting, Marketing,
Management, Office Administration, or Computer Information Systems.
Eligibility Requirements:
Recommendation from the NCCC Business Instructors
Must be a Neosho County resident.
Award Details:
Recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours as of the 11th day of
the semester.
Recipient must enroll in minimum of 9 business hours per academic year.
Recipient must successfully complete a minimum of 12 credit hours a semester for
renewal.
Recipient must maintain a minimum College Career GPA of 2.0 for renewal.

TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarship includes full-tuition up to 17 credit hours per semester.
Scholarships available for students majoring in : Electronics, Welding,
Industrial trades, Maintenance Principles, Drafting-Engineering Design.
Eligibility Requirements:
Recommendation from the NCCC Technology Instructors
Must be a Neosho County resident
Award Details:
Recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours as of the 11th day of
the semester.
Recipient must enroll in program hours.
Recipient must successfully complete a minimum of 12 credit hours a semester for
renewal.
Recipient must maintain a minimum College Career GPA of 2.0 for renewal.

NURSING
PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS

Eligibility
Requirements: Nursing Academic Scholarships are awarded based on the recommendation of
the Director of Nursing. Must be accepted into the Nursing Program.
Award Details: Recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 7 NCCC nursing hours each
semester. Recipient must receive a grade of "C" or better in all course required
in the Nursing Program. Recipient must be a Kansas resident. Student must provide a letter stating financial need. Student must provide letters of recommendation from 2 general education

SENIOR CITIZEN SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarship includes full-tuition and fees (excluding class fees)
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be a Neosho County Resident *
Must be 62 or older.
Award Details:
Scholarships are available for the fall, spring, and summer terms.
Class fees, books, and additional fees are the student's responsibility.
*The NCCC Foundation awards a limited number of scholarships to Kansas Senior Citizens residing outside Neosho County. Please contact the Lifetime Learning Coordinator for more information.

STAFF AND DEPENDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarship includes full-tuition and participation in the consumable book program.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be a NCCC full-time employee, spouse, or dependant of an NCCC full-time employee.
Must complete the Staff or Dependant scholarship form which is available at the Human Resources Office.
Employee must be employed at NCCC on the first day and the last day of the class.
Award Details:
Award pays tuition.
Student must reimburse NCCC for each credit hour that they do not receive a grade of A, B, C, or P.

HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarship includes up to 6 credit hours of tuition per semester.
These scholarships are awarded to eligible high school students residing in Neosho County. The Foundation also awards a limited number of out-district scholarships to students attending Neosho County high schools.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be and 11th or 12th grade student or a gifted underclassman with IEP indicating readiness for college curriculum.
Must attend a high school located in Neosho County.
Must be authorized by high school principal to enroll at NCCC.
Must be accepted for enrollment at NCCC.
Must have a high school GPA of 3.6 as of the end of the previous academic year.
Award Details:
Scholarships are awarded on an academic year basis.
High School Scholarship program is administered by the NCCC Dean of Outreach & Workforce Development.

Glossary of Terms on this Page
Consumable Book Loan Program – Includes books that can’t be used again by other students, for example, workbooks (consumed). Also includes non-consumable books that can be used again by future students, for example: standard hardback books. Non-consumable books must be returned at the end of each semester.
Foundation Scholarships- funded by the NCCC Foundation.
Full-time - Enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours a semester.
Full tuition- Up to and including 17 credit hours a semester.
GED - General Education Development
GPA - Grade Point Average on a 4.0 scale
In-District – Legal resident of Neosho County as determined by the NCCC Registrar.
Institutional Scholarships- funded by NCCC. NJCAA- National Junior College Athletic Association
Non-Consumable Book Loan Program –Includes only books that can be used again by future students. These books must be returned at the end of each semester.
Out-District - Legal resident of the State of Kansas, but not a legal resident of Neosho county, as determined by the NCCC Registrar.
Out-of-State – Non-Kansas resident, but a permanent resident of the United States.
Part-time - Enrolled in less than 12 credit hours at NCCC in the semester.
