Industrial TradesThe certificate in Introduction to
Industrial Trades is designed to teach you the skills necessary to gain
entry-level employment in a variety of manufacturing and industrial
occupations.
Upon completion of the program, you will receive a certificate
documenting the skills you have attained. This certificate program
transitions into the Associate of Applied Science degree which transfers
into the Bachelor of Applied Science Degree with a Major in Technology
at Pittsburg State University.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES
1. Demonstrate the ability to use and maintain common hand and power
tools.
2. Apply safe work practices.
3. Explain how the various types of blueprints are structured and the
conventions that are used in making then and reading them.
4. Demonstrate the ability to install, drain, waste, and vent plastic
and copper piping.
5. Demonstrate the ability to accurately measure, cut, assemble and
finish a wood project.
6. Create a wood cabinet project.
7. Demonstrate an understanding of electrical current by correctly
wiring a receptacle and switch.
8. Demonstrate accepted cutting and welding techniques.
9. Demonstrate accepted workplace skills including punctuality,
grooming, listening, communicating, and respecting supervisors and co
workers.
10. Demonstrate a basic understanding of industrial trades including
jobs available and skills required.
COURSE SEQUENCE
The listing that follows is the suggested sequence of courses for
full-time students. If you are a part-time student or have transferred
courses from another school, you should generally complete the courses
in the order recommended
