Steps to Progress as a Nursing Student

Step 1:  I have decided to pursue a collegiate career in nursing.

Complete a course in:  C.N.A., Medical Assistant, or LMHT.  C.N.A is offered at NCCC through the Allied Health Care Department:  Allied Health Care, contact  Tracy Rhine, email address:  trhine@neosho.edu, phone:  620-431-2820 x 262

Step 2:  I completed a course in one of the following:  C.N.A., Medical Assistant, L.M.H.T.  I want to earn an LPN.  Additionally, I may continue my studies to earn an RN.

Recommendation:  Complete all "Prerequisite" General Education and the General Education courses listed in the nursing program curriculum prior to admission.  This approach will allow you to have enough points to be accepted into the program and will allow you to concentrate only on nursing classes once in the program.  Online labs are strongly discouraged.

You may apply even if the "Prerequisite" General Education courses are in progress as long as they are complete prior to admission into the Pre-Nursing Courses:

BIOL 257/258 Human Anatomy and Physiology with lab (3 credit hours class, 2 credit hours lab)

PSYC 155 General Psychology  (3 credit hours)

PSYC 263 Developmental Psychology  (3 credit hours)
