Honors Program
The Honors Program challenges students to take honors level
courses, practice leadership skills, and experience being a member of an
exciting learning community.
The Neosho County Community College Honors Program offers a
unique and challenging learning experience to students with the desire
to excel. Members of the program have the opportunity to enroll in
special sections (via contract basis) of select general education courses that will provide a
stimulating learning experience. Members will also be encouraged to
realize their full potential and responsibility for leadership by
studying leadership skills using current research and classic examples.
They will share these experiences as a member of an exciting and
committed learning community.
Benefits of participating in the Honors Program
Receive leadership training and experience
Participate in and give scholarly presentations at regional and national honors conferences
Experience being a member of an exciting learning community
Receive recognition as Honors Scholar at graduation and transcripts
Students will be eligible for special honors sections of:

English Composition II |
 |
Other courses available for Honors credit on contract basis |
You are eligible:
 |
If you have a 3.3 g.p.a. or |
 |
an ACT score of 24 or above or
|
 |
an SAT score of 700 or above
|
Honors students need to:
 |
Maintain a 3.3 g.p.a.; |
 |
Be enrolled full-time; |
 |
Enroll in Honors courses each semester. |
To graduate as an Honors Scholar, you need to:
 |
Complete 12 or more hours of
honors courses, including HUM 250-Leadership; |
 |
Have a 3.3 or higher cumulative g.p.a.

Honors Faculty
David Smith, Instructor of Music, is Coordinator of the Honors Program
and co-instructor of the Leadership course.
Tosca Harris, Liberal Arts Division Chair, is co-instructor of the
Leadership course.
Charles Babb, Instructor of Math and Computer Science, is a
co-instructor of the Leadership course.
Brad Wilkinson, Instructor of Art, is a co-instructor of the Leadership
course.
Mary Weilert is an English and Communications instructor and the
instructor of the Honors Composition II course.
