ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE CHALLENGE TEAM
The Academic Excellence Challenge Team is a group of students from Neosho County Community College who compete against other students from Kansas community colleges in a scholar bowl format. Questions are written by instructors from community colleges in the various subjects that make up the general education requirements. The students spend the year practicing in mock competitions and in scrimmage competitions with other community colleges. The official competitions take place in the spring and consist of preliminary, regional, sub-state, and state final competition. Each year NCCC recruits a team of eight (8) members to participate in the program. To be eligible to compete, students must be enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours. A team member must have earned at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA, have completed no more than seventy-two (72) semester hours, and may not have a college degree. BLACK STUDENT UNION
The purpose of Black Student Union is to promote a general understanding of all black cultures and their heritage. The organization also assists and supports black students and serves as a representative of all minority students of NCCC on all issues of public interests and/or concerns. Membership is open to all wishing to be a part of the club’s goals and prospected purposes. [Back to Top]

THE BUSINESS CLUB
The Business Club is a campus organization open to all students majoring in the areas of business. Its objective is to provide social, career, and educational activities as they relate to the business world. [Back to Top]

DELTA PSI OMEGA
Delta Psi Omega is a national honorary dramatic fraternity for community college students. One of the main objectives of this organization is to give students adequate recognition for their work in promoting college theater. Students who have contributed in a major way to the success of at least one production of the drama department and have shown active interest in advancing theater at NCCC are, at the discretion of the faculty director and vote of the existing membership, invited to membership. FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES
The mission of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes is “to present to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowships and in the fellowship of the Church.” [Back to Top]

HONORS LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
The NCCC Honors Leadership Academy offers a unique and challenging learning experience to students with the desire to excel. Members of the Academy have the opportunity to enroll in special sections of select general education courses that will provide stimulating learning experiences. Members will also be encouraged to realize their full potential and responsibility for leadership by studying leadership skills using current research and classic examples. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT CLUB
It is the mission of the International Student Club to promote understanding and good will among students of different nations and cultures, to share ideas and diverse perspectives in solutions to identified problems. KANS - NURSING STUDENT ASSOCIATION
Nursing students are encouraged to become active members in the KANS (Kansas Association of Nursing Students). Membership in this organization gives the student an opportunity to learn and practice leadership skills and network with students from other schools of nursing and nurses at state and national levels. It also prepares the students to be active in their professional organizations after graduation. KANS is open to all pre-nursing students in addition to those enrolled in the nursing program. PHI THETA KAPPA (PTK)
The purpose of the Omega Iota Chapter of PTK at NCCC is the promotion of scholarship, the development of leadership and service, and the cultivation of fellowship among qualified students of this college.

Membership in Omega Iota Chapter shall consist of members, provisional members, alumni members, and honorary members.

Members:
Each candidate for membership must have completed twelve (12) credit hours of associate degree work, with a GPA of 3.5, not including remedial classes, adhere to the school conduct code, and possess recognized qualities of citizenship as deemed by faculty nomination. A GPA of 3.3 must be maintained. When a member’s cumulative GPA falls below 3.3, he/she has one semester in which to bring the average to 3.3. If the student fails to raise the cumulative GPA to 3.3 after one semester, the member’s name shall be stricken from the local chapter roll and the PTK National Headquarters shall be notified to strike the name from the national roll as well.
Provisional Members:
A provisional member of PTK is a student, who, in the opinion of the local chapter, has shown an active interest in the affairs of the society and who serves the society in some special capacity, but who does not meet the full requirements for membership in the society. Chapter requirements for admission as a provisional member shall be academic excellence as defined by a GPA of 3.5 on all credits taken in high school. In order to become a provisional member, a student must be enrolled in an associate degree program at NCCC, adhere to school conduct code, and possess recognized qualities of citizenship. Provisional members will not be affiliated with the national organization of PTK, cannot hold office, and cannot vote on chapter, regional, or national matters. Provisional members will pay local dues of $10, but are not required to pay national dues until they have qualified for full membership.
Alumni Members:
Alumni members shall be former members of the society who terminated their active membership in good standing, with a minimum of one year’s enrollment at the two-year college level. Alumni members shall be entitled to all the rights of full members, except the right to vote or to hold office.
Honorary Members:
Honorary membership may be granted in this chapter to those who have rendered distinguished service. Honorary members may not vote or hold office.

Each year PTK, in cooperation with USA Today, encourages each community college to nominate two (2) students for Academic All-American. These two (2) students compete nationally for honors and are automatically named to the Kansas Academic All-American Team that is recognized each year at an awards ceremony. [Back to Top]

SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS CLUB
This organization is for students who have an interest and/or curiosity in the various fields of biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. All students are eligible for membership and are encouraged to join and become involved in the club. The club offers opportunities for participation in professional activities featuring guest speakers, technical demonstrations, journal article reviews, science fair participation, and field trips. Several social activities and fundraisers are planned for each year the club is organized. STUDENT AMBASSADORS
NCCC Student Ambassadors are students selected by the student services staff to represent the College at various College and community functions. Student Ambassadors also participate in various community service projects, such as reading to students at local elementary schools. [Back to Top]

STUDENT SENATE
The Student Senate is the governing agency of the student body. Its goal is to promote student interests in all phases of campus life. The executive council of this body consists of president, vice-president, and secretary-treasurer elected by the student body in a general election. [Back to Top]

The senators consist of two (2) sophomores and two (2) freshmen. One representative from each of the active clubs of the College are also voting members. The Student Senate has the responsibility of coordinating the social functions of the College and cultivating a desirable College spirit through extracurricular activities.
