Asst. Coach Aaron "SWAYZ" Sweazy

Aaron Sweazy brings to Neosho wrestling an exciting enthusiasm for the sport.  A four year letterman at Chapman High in Chapman, KS, "The Swayz" eventually found his way to the wrestling mats at the University of Central Oklahoma under the guidance of legendary coach David James.  While at UCO, Coach Swayz was a member of 3 consecutive teams  that finished in the Top 3 Nationally amongst Division 2 NCAA programs, including back to back National Championships in 2002 and 2003.   Coach Swayz who earned a varsity letter in 2003 at UCO, is also a former collegiate teammate of four time DII National Champion Cole Provence as well as current US Olympic Hopeful and former World Team member Mo Lawal.

Following UCO, Coach Swayz wrestled with health issues in battling cancer, but wound up defeating it in May of 2005.   Coach Swayz has used his experiences in battling cancer to help educate others by speaking at Relay for Life events, working with the Tyler Graebner Cancer Foundation.  A bit of an iconic legend in the wrestling world for his gift of gab, Coach Swayz has found his way into covering NCAA DII wrestling as well as other human interest stories for Intermatwrestle.com

During the Summer of 2009 Coach Swayz was the NJCAA representative at the of the USA Wrestling sponsored ALL-IN WRESTLING CAMP.  While at the Camp he worked with staffs from Arizona State, Grand Canyon and Waldorf.  He was also able to work with US Martial Arts Hall of Famer Bill Gossett at the All-IN Camp as well.

Coach Sweazy lives in Chanute with his wife  Kris (Alonzo) and their two great danes Gertie and Pickle.
