As a player, Craig spent 2 years at Cowley County Community College. He was a preseason All-American there and was All-Conference both years. From there, he bypassed a scholarship from Arkansas and entered into his professional career. He started with the Texas Rangers and played 3 years before playing Independent ball for the next two years.
