At the January 14, 2010 Board Meeting, the Board approved the contract for the purchase of 27 acres of beautiful wooded land located on Route 68 in Ottawa.

Since the College has had a long-term lease agreement with the NCCC Foundation for the current Ottawa Campus, the College approached the Foundation about building and leasing to the College a new campus. The College Board, at its meeting on January 14th, also passed a resolution expressing their intent to enter into a lease agreement with the Neosho County Community College Foundation for leasing the 52,000 square foot educational facility that the foundation will build. The College, in their lease payments to the Foundation, will be able to cover the debt service owed on the bonds. The college will not be using any Neosho County taxpayers’ money, or any state aid monies we receive to pay the lease. Rather, the funds for our lease payment will come from the fees that Ottawa students and out-district students pay to attend Neosho County Community College.
The preliminary estimations are that the campus will be a single 52,000 square foot facility.
The facility will be funded with educational facility revenue bonds being issued by the City of Ottawa, who will lease the facility to the NCCC Foundation, who will then sublease the facility to the College.
The college will use the revenue generated by student fees, specifically the Ottawa Building Fee and the Out-District Fee, to pay the lease/“rent” to the foundation
The new campus will be almost 3 times as large as the current campus. The current campus is 18,000 square feet which includes general classrooms, nursing laboratories, and computer laboratories.
All of the programs and personnel from the current Ottawa campus are going to move to the new campus.
There will be a paved parking lot for 400 cars and if fiscally feasible, supplementary parking for 200 more cars will be constructed.
