Faculty Resources

MULTIMEDIA RESOURCES. The following multimedia resources are available for your instruction:

Chapman Library’s collection of videos and DVDs. These films can be found through a title, keyword, or subject search in the Online Library Catalog. Films are indicated on the Results List with a film icon by the title. These films can be checked out for two weeks.

Films on Demand
Films on Demand
is a streaming video database with over 6,000 videos in many subject areas. After you have created your own account, you can save film segments as links, embed them in InsideNC, and create your own folders for future use. Each web page has a Help video  to guide you in using the database.

SHORT Introductions/Tutorials for Films on Demand

American History on Video
American History on Video
is a streaming video database with historical and documentary content. There are many options with this database, including organizing and customizing film clips, and creating folders for future access. At this time, access is on either campus.

SEKALC Videos
Southeast Kansas Academic Librarians’ Council (SEKALC) VHS/DVD collection. These films are housed off-campus and usually only take two days to arrive at NCCC. Check-out time for these films is 3 weeks. To see what titles are in this collection, go to SEKALC Videos by Subject (list courtesy of CowleyCC). When you have found the film you want, give the Library staff the information on the film and they will contact you when it arrives.

To reserve any video, call Library Staff at x296 or x244, or e-mail them at library@neosho.edu

Requesting a Purchase for the Library Collection
Fill out the Library Purchase Request form if there is a book or DVD that you would like to add to the Library’s collection for your instructional use.

Faculty Reserves
Materials can be placed on reserve for students to use in the library. They have a checkout period of two hours.

Group Study Halls
Group study halls where attendance is required are usually not held in the Library, unless there is no available classroom space elsewhere on campus.  Because the Library is the only quiet space on campus, using it for any groups must be arranged beforehand with the Library Director (x246), and a qualified supervisor must stay with the group while in the Library.

Classes in the Library
If you plan on bringing your class to the Library for research, you will need to schedule this with Library staff before you bring your class to the Library, as another class may be scheduled for that time slot. To schedule a class, email library@neosho.edu or call x244. You can also view the Library schedule on the Outlook Calendar by searching for "library" to see if the Library is available for classes during the time period you want.

Access to Electronic Library Resourses on Campus
Students can access all of the library's electronic resources from any classroom on campus that has computers. If you are planning a class session to use the Library's electronic resources and students do not need to physically be in the Library, then contact Terri Dale at x 211 to reserve a classroom on campus with computers.

The Library has 17 computers and 6 laptops for class use.

Database Trials
If you have a database that you would like for the Library to investigate or purchase, please let us know, and we can arrange a trial of the database. You will find current database trials on our Database Trial webpage.
